These terms govern your use of Authsidian, including the desktop, mobile and browser apps, this website and our sync service. By creating an account or using Authsidian, you agree to them. Please read the section on password recovery carefully: it explains a risk you accept by using a zero-knowledge product.
The service
Authsidian is a zero-knowledge password and secrets manager. You can use the apps locally for free on the Community plan, and optionally create an account to sync an encrypted vault across your devices. Paid plans add the features described on our pricing page.
Your account and master password
- You must provide a valid email address that you control when you create an account.
- Your master password is never sent to us. You are responsible for choosing a strong one and keeping it secret.
- You are responsible for the security of your devices and of any Emergency Kit fragments you create.
- You are responsible for activity that takes place under your account.
No password recovery
There is no "reset password".
Authsidian is designed so that we never have access to your master password or your encryption keys. If you lose your master password, we cannot reset it, recover it or decrypt your data, and your vault will be permanently unrecoverable. You accept this risk as a condition of using Authsidian.
The only ways to regain access are remembering your master password or rebuilding it from your own Emergency Kit fragments. Keeping a recent export of anything critical is strongly recommended.
Plans and payments
Paid plans are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record and handles payment, taxes and invoicing. Your purchase is also subject to Lemon Squeezy’s terms, and refund requests are processed through Lemon Squeezy.
- Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for.
- A Lifetime license is a one-time purchase that unlocks the Pro Personal features for as long as Authsidian operates the service, with no renewal fees.
- Prices are shown in US dollars and may change. A price change never affects a period you have already paid for.
- If a paid plan ends, your vault stays encrypted and accessible on your devices under the Community plan.
Authsidian Send
Send is for sharing your own files and secrets. You may not use it to distribute malware, illegal content or material that infringes the rights of others. Because transfers are end-to-end encrypted, we cannot inspect their contents, but we may remove transfers and suspend accounts when we receive credible reports of abuse.
Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to access other users’ data or accounts.
- Do not interfere with, overload or probe our infrastructure beyond normal use, except through coordinated security research reported to us.
- Do not use Authsidian for any unlawful purpose.
Your data
You keep all rights to the content of your vault. Because it is encrypted on your device, we cannot read it and claim no rights over it. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what we store and why.
Availability and backups
We work to keep the sync service available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Your vault is also stored on your devices, and you are responsible for keeping backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Authsidian is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for data loss caused by a forgotten master password, lost Emergency Kit fragments or compromised devices. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.
Termination
You can stop using Authsidian at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Where we reasonably can, we will notify you first and give you time to export your vault.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page and notify account holders of material changes before they take effect. If you keep using Authsidian after that, you accept the updated terms.
